Period/Scale/System Slut!

I reckon I am rivalling the Mad March Hare.
In March I have purchased:

  • a second SAGA Warband of Vikings

  • The SAGA Supplement Northern Fury

  • a 3rd Scots Warband

  • and a Scots dice set
  • FoG Napoleonic and an 800point 1813 Austrian Army in 10mm from Pendraken

  • I have pre-ordered Maurice and a card set

  • And Warlord Games Pike and Shotte supplement

I have been my typical self and saved myself a few bob here and there by shopping around, and I did have a small lottery windfall so I dont feel that guilty but now I am wondering whatever happened to my plans to reduce the lead mountain through frugality and willpower...

Pendrakens Falklands Range is sue out in June along with more Austrian Napoleonics. Where will the madness end?

Ayyubid - progress and their foes

Managed to find the spare battery for the wifes camera and capture those elusive piccies of the Ayyubids WIP.

The pics are a bit hurried.
2 units of Mamluks
The Crusader Army - just the basing to finish

Crusaders - another angle, with Arab Allies!

Turcopoles and Military Order Knights

Knights, crossbows and spearman

Clearly both armies still need the bases finished off, but waiting until both are complete so that the basing can match.

There was also a second photo of more Arab cavalry however technology is surpassing my limited skills which makes me wonder why I bother!!!

FAIL!!!!! Another dent in the willpower/bank balance

Failed again on note 4) of my Lead Mountain Challenge 2012.

Those wicked chaps at Gripping Beast only went and released Northern Fury and the new Scots warbands for SAGA which has seen me part with another significant lump of cash...

I resisted also buying Jomsvikings at the same time although no doubt they will end up joining my to do list before the end of the year...

I am however being good in other respects in that I am about 90% of the way to putting in an order to those equally devilish chaps at Pendraken for a FoG Napoleonic 1812 Austrian Army. Just got to wait a day longer for my expenses cheque to clear!

Ayyubid Egyptians

Found myself with a buckshee afternoon today so decided to make a start on my Ayyubids whom I have had for sometime all based up and prepped awaiting time and inclination to take on one of my biggest phobia's - CAVALRY in large numbers!

In total there are:

3x FoG Command Stands
4x WMACommand Stands
8x Mamluk Cavalry stands
12x Lancer stands
12x Turcoman LH stands
8x Turcoman Cavalry stands
6x Bedouin LH stands
12x Light archer stands
8x Javelin stands
8x Slinger stands

120 Cavalry which is a lot for me. I'm going to give myself a two month window in which to get this lot on the table.

Target date 13.05.2012, which will be a slightly late birthday present for myself!

Nosher's Lead Mountain Challenge 2012 (revised)

Nosher’s 2012 Lead Mountain Challenge
Somehow my original post from back in December has been corrupted so I am re-posting my original lead mountain list with updates

My key aims in 2012 are as follows:

1)     Collect the following armies for FoG Napoleonic and to have completed at least two matching armies for a game pre 2013. French, Austrian, British and or Russian

2)    To collect and paint both British and Argentinian Forces from Pendrakens Falklands Range due for release in the summer

3)    If Pendraken release a full LOA range to purchase and make a start on matching 10mm Armies

4)    Not to be distracted by other shiny new toys even if the LoA range doesn't get expanded and the Falklands Range gets delayed dramatically

5)    If I fail to achieve point 4 for any reason to see if I can beat last years willpower test by at least holding out until March of 2012. Failed miserably and purchased an Anglo-Danish 9pt warband for SAGA in February (see previous post!)

UPDATE 5th March 2012 - a lottery win at the weekend enabled me to buy a new cricket bat as well as some opponents for my Anglo-Danes in the form of a Gripping Beast Viking Warband
