More English 100YW and German FJR

An ecelectic mix poles apart - my latest offering on the 100YW and a small squad of German FJR I finished ages ago and had forgotten about. Nik will remember these?

So, Gascon MAA, English Bill in campaign scruffiness and a Retinue/Livery'd unit, some Welsh Spearmen and hiding away behind them English 'Sgts' and retainers.

Nearly finished the English now - less reinforcements which I purchased recently. Naturally basing still to do.

The bugger is, is that these figs look lovely until Macro kicks in on the camera. I really must get some lessons in taking effective shots close up.

100YW/WoR English

With my Hundred Years War French squared away* I thought it about time I turned my attention to their adversarys the English.

And what better way to start the English than with that which the French fear most - the humble longbowmen.

With two units of 8 stands, 1 unit of 6 stands and 1 unit of 8 stands of retinue bowmen for my Yorkist WoR, (and to add insult to injury for the French) I went on to do a six stand unit of Gascon Crossbow and a 4 stand unit of Gascon Billmen.

Next up, loads of Bill, Men at Arms and Foot Knights.

If you're wondering what the * is: No army is ever complete - sat in my to do box are a growing number of French reinforcements...

100 Years War French - complete!

My first 'proper' 10mm Pendraken Army - 100YW French. Really pleased with these apart from the basing which I just struggle with full stop.

I think I will revert to flocking the whole base rather than just patching.

Anyway hope you like them! Next up matching 100YW English.

100YW French in 10mm

So here we go, those lovely chappies on Pendraken's forum set the challenge of purchasing some figures and then recording progress every two weeks. I saw this as potentially a way of keeping my blog updated... let's see!

My latest painting efforts is going into two matching 100 Years War French and English Armies in 10mm based to Fields of Glory.

Both armies were purchased for just under £75 which is a steal these days. They took just over a week to arrive and were within days based up, basetexed and undercoated black.

A week later I have two 8 stand units of French Crossbows and a single 8 stand unit of Ribaulds (peasants to you and I).

I would very much like to get these armies on the table before Christmas 2010 so these are a bit of a speed paint.  My photography as always leave a lot to be desired but there you go - I'm a man of a certain age that just about gets along with modern technology.

None are yet varnished and naturally I have still to flock the bases.

Its just like bloody buses...

I haven't uploaded too much lately - been far too busy playing and coaching cricket and enjoying an unusually pleasant English summer to be sat in front of a computer screen.

Anyway, heres a few pics of my latest painting frenzy - and because its been so long since I updated the site there are two lots of minis for your to see hence the post title.

These minis come from both ends of the spectrum. 6mm loveliness in the shape of Baccus Franco Prussian War Imperial French and Prussians and 28mm loveliness in the form of Westwind SoTR.

Enjoy:-)
